Valerie Reynoso is a versatile professional whose career spans diplomacy, law, and the arts. Starting with a passion for visual arts, she later developed a deep interest in politics during high school. Reynoso pursued a degree in Politics and Human Rights at Marymount Manhattan College, which led her to a pivotal internship at the Dominican Republic’s UN Mission.

Furthering her diplomatic journey, she earned a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University, advising at the UN Missions of El Salvador and Panama. Now a Juris Doctor candidate, she also serves as Vice President and UN Legal Envoy at the Global Organization for Sustainable Development Goals, Inc., advocating for a more inclusive global landscape.

1. Your journey has taken you from being a political analyst to a Juris Doctor student, with experience as a UN Advisor, academic, and artist. Could you share what inspired this diverse career path and how each facet has contributed to your mission?

Visual arts and academia were my first indispensable passions ever since I was a child. Throughout my childhood, I participated in several art programs (i.e., the Learning Through Art  program of the Guggenheim Museum) and I attended the Harlem School of Arts and The Art Students League, in New York City. My passion for politics was first ignited when I was in high school. This is when I realized that this is a part of my life purpose. I went to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, where I majored in visual arts and was a part of a club of politically conscious students. Shortly after, I began engaging in political writing for several news media and organizations, which I continue to do to this day.

As I pursued my Bachelor of Arts degree at Marymount Manhattan College, I majored in Politics and Human Rights. There was a United Nations Program for students when I was there, where only a limited amount of applicants were admitted to intern for NGOs affiliated with the United Nations Secretariat. I had applied for this program and, initially, I did not get in. I applied for several internships at the United Nations Permanent Missions and got accepted into an internship at the Permanent Mission of the Dominican Republic to the United Nations. I had defied the odds and achieved my goal of becoming a part of the program and of starting my career at the United Nations. Given this, Marymount allowed me to form part of its United Nations program. During my time at the Mission, I realized that I wanted to continue working in diplomacy and that international affairs is a specific component of politics that I am most intrigued by. I also realized that I would also need to get a Master’s degree to satisfy the technical requirements of becoming a diplomat.

After my time at the Dominican Republic Mission, I became a government-appointed Adviser at the Permanent Mission of El Salvador to the United Nations. After that, I began a Master of International Affairs program at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in January 2021. During my time at Columbia, I became a government-appointed Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Panama to the United Nations for a few months. Also, for my Capstone Project for my Master’s program there, I became a graduate consultant and project manager for the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, with a cohort consisting of a few other students from my program. I also became an Instructor at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies, during the latter half of my program. I co-taught undergraduate courses on international relations, foreign policy, international security, political theory and history.

My time at Columbia University also inspired me to pursue law school after graduation. I harmonized my goals and determined that becoming a lawyer specializing in international law aligns with my interests and career goals because I aspire to work at a law firm affiliated with international organizations and engage in diplomacy that way.

After I graduated from Columbia, I began my Juris Doctor program, with an area of study
in Government and Public Interest Law, at a law school in New York. In addition to being a
second-year law student, I am also currently the Vice President and UN Legal Envoy of the Global Organization for Sustainable Development Goals, Inc., an NGO in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Here, I lead its legal analyses, proposals and diplomatic correspondence at the commissions and the General Assembly of the United Nations. Each of these aforementioned facets have made me into who I am today and are a part of my journey in my career and in my personal growth.

2. As someone deeply involved in diplomacy and international affairs, how do you see the role of women evolving in these fields, and what steps can be taken to further empower women in global politics?

As someone deeply involved in diplomacy and international affairs, I see the role of
women already evolving in these fields, such that there are more women taking on positions of power in fields and occupations where our voices are typically, virtually invisible. This also relates to the increase in women pursuing higher education, establishing businesses and achieving more elevated socioeconomic statuses. The steps that can be taken to further empower women in global politics is to not limit our scope of gender equity to politics of representation or identity reductionism. This means that we must ensure that women that rise as global leaders also have effective policies that positively affect women and other groups of people. Education is one of the key equalizers of society, so we must also encourage and socioeconomically support women to pursue higher education. We should also continue to support and expand the current initiatives of international organizations, NGOs, and grassroots organizations aimed at achieving gender equity, women’s rights, anti-war advocacy and foreign policy that adheres to international law and that preserves the self-determination of countries subject to war or conflicts, and the dignity of its subsequent marginalized populations.

3. Your heritage plays a significant role in your life and work. How has your dual
citizenship and Dominican roots influenced your perspective on inclusion and
representation in the legal and diplomatic arenas?

My dual citizenship and my Dominican roots influence my perspective on inclusion and representation in the legal and diplomatic arenas because they are some of my driving sources of inspiration and obligation. I have written extensively and authored numerous publications on Dominican history, politics and international affairs. I carry the homeland of my family and ancestors in my heart wherever I go. My family brought me up immersed in the culture of my ancestors. This influences my perspective on inclusion and representation because I know that others around the world also hold their cultures and backgrounds close to them. This makes me conscious of the fact that others around the globe are just as worried about the impact of politics and foreign policy on their backgrounds as I am about their impact on mine. This is why I believe that it is essential for people of diverse origins and philosophies to be included in legal and diplomatic arenas. Effective foreign policy and international cooperation necessitate this.

4. In your extensive work at the UN Permanent Missions, you’ve been an advocate for underrepresented groups. Could you tell us about a specific project or initiative you’ve been involved in that has made a meaningful impact on these groups?

A specific initiative that I have been involved in that has made a meaningful impact on underrepresented groups was when I was working in the Second Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, which covers the topics of global finance and economic matters. Some of the work that I did there was that I was sent to several meetings co-hosted by many high-level figures and entities, including the Organization of American States, H.E., Princess Haifa al-Mogrin of Saudi Arabia, and H.E., the Vice-Secretary General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed. In these conferences and group meetings, I engaged with these figures, other diplomats and El Salvador’s government to negotiate official United Nations resolutions and to come up with international strategies that, upon implementation, will serve the purpose of closing the gender wage gap, to economically empower marginalized communities of the Global South, and to promote the harmonization of foreign policies on a global scale.

5. Your dedication to advocating for the wellbeing of women and Latino descendants is inspiring. Can you share some key strategies you believe can create a more inclusive and diverse legal and security landscape?

Some key strategies that I believe that can create a more inclusive and diverse legal and security landscape are the continuation of the promotion and creation of diversity fellowships and job opportunities, widened recruitment efforts in law firms and throughout international and governmental entities, the strengthening of anti-discrimination laws and regulations, the enhancement of professional mentoring opportunities for young women and those of other backgrounds, the expansion of diversity and inclusion policies and cultural competence training in said fields, and the enhancement of collaborations and partnerships with leaders and professionals from diverse backgrounds and communities. The achievement of a more inclusive
and diverse legal and security landscape necessitates the assimilation of measures, such as those indicated above, to maximize socioeconomic, ethnic and gender equity and equal opportunity throughout the international and governmental arenas.

6. Being both an artist and an academic, how do you find ways to blend your creative side with your academic pursuits and career in diplomacy and law?

Being both an artist and an academic, I find ways to blend my creative side with my
academic pursuits and career in diplomacy and law. Politics and diplomacy are forms of art through which we collectively build our realities in the world that we inhabit and the state apparatuses in place that inform that order. Art is not limited to visual arts because it is a continuous expression of the human psyche and ability. Its permeative nature engulfs our worldview and the lens through which we collectively view the world. Art refines the order and justice instilled through law and the eloquence and performance skill that serve as vital cogs of diplomacy and academia. For these reasons, first and foremost, I am an artist in all ways and I apply this philosophy throughout my trajectory of life.

7. As a woman in traditionally male-dominated fields, what advice do you have for young women aspiring to make their mark in diplomacy, politics, and law?

As a woman in traditionally male-dominated fields, the advice that I have for young
women aspiring to make their mark in diplomacy, politics, law, etc., is, firstly, to never allow anyone to make them feel that they cannot achieve what they have set out for themselves and to never stop fighting for the aspirations that matter to them. They should not allow the discouragement or negative criticisms of others prevent them from reaching their full potential. Oftentimes, those who try to discourage us from realizing our dreams do so because they have already given up on their own dreams. Also, young women should aspire towards obtaining higher education, relevant experience and to make a regular habit of reading literature and the news, writing and analyzing—all of which I do every day. It’s crucial to maintain an insatiable appetite for knowledge and for finding answers to questions that most intrigue us. It’s also key to find your voice and human capital as a person and to implement this into all that you do, particularly in the aforementioned fields, where those characteristics typically make people stand out.

8. Can you share a personal or professional achievement that you are particularly proud of, and what lessons did you learn from that experience?

A personal achievement that I am particularly proud of is my family. None of my career or academic-related achievements would hold as much weight as they do without my family, which is the main reason why I work and study in the first place, on a personal level. The lesson that I learned from this experience is that familial cohesion is one of the key tenets of my life and I believe that it should also be for others because at the end of the day, we go home to our families and share our successes and overall lives with them.

A professional achievement that I am particularly proud of is when I formed part of the El Salvador delegation for the High-Level Week of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly, when I was an Adviser at the Permanent Mission of El Salvador to the United Nations. I took charge of the seat of the El Salvador delegation on some days at the United Nations General Assembly Hall and I was notably one of the few women to do that for a respective delegation that year. I provided strategic support, prepared government documents and collaborated with a team of some of Mission’s other diplomats and executive figures of El Salvador’s government. The lessons that I learned from this experience is that teamwork will always be a part of any successful effort or act towards achieving a goal that ultimately has a positive impact on the world. Additionally, when I was an Instructor at Columbia University, I shared my experiences at the United Nations Permanent Missions and in politics with my students, which also influenced them in defining their own career paths and aspirations. We all deliver our drop of water into the collective river.

9. The intersection of gender and diversity is a critical topic today. How do you see the conversation evolving, and what role do you hope to play in shaping this discourse?

Women are defying antiquated norms that state that we can only be limited to a life of domestic or second-class citizen servitude and to subscribe to someone else’s tenets instead of having our own philosophies. We are gradually gearing towards a society where it is increasingly becoming more commonplace for women to step into their power, find their voice and life purpose and to actively pursue their fulfillment. The role that I hope to play in shaping this discourse is to be able to continue advocating for, and informing others on, the presence and rise of women in careers and spaces where we are historically not as visible or heard. I want to establish myself as a lawyer-diplomat so that I can continue engaging these questions with governments and in the international arena. I also want to continue mentoring other women to assist them in achieving their career and educational goals, and to ensure that they know to never give up on what is important to them. I hope that my achievements and vision continue to inspire
other women to also bring their own aspirations to fruition in their own lives.

10. Looking ahead, what are your aspirations and goals for your career, both as a Juris Doctor student and as an advocate for underrepresented groups, in the coming years?

My aspirations and goals for my career, as a Juris Doctor student, and as an advocate for underrepresented groups, in the coming years, are to graduate from law school and pass the Bar exam, along with all of the other related legal exams required to practice law in the U.S., to get a job at a law firm affiliated with international organizations, governmental entities, and international law courts in Europe, to continue working with the United Nations and provide legal support to its organs and purposes and to NGOs in consultative status with the United Nations. I would also like to expand my personal efforts in socioeconomically supportingunderrepresented groups and women in obtaining their basic necessities and securing their educational and socioeconomic stability. Every step towards fulfilling my future aspirations is directly driven by all that I have already constructed.

The press tour for It Ends With Us has stirred up quite the buzz, but not just for the usual reasons. While fans eagerly anticipate the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, recent events have fueled rumors of tension between the movie’s key players—particularly between director Justin Baldoni and lead actress Blake Lively.

Justin Baldoni’s High Praise for Blake Lively

In interviews, Justin Baldoni has been nothing but complimentary toward Blake Lively, who not only stars as Lily Bloom but also serves as a producer on the film. Speaking to Cosmopolitan UK, Baldoni lauded Lively’s dedication and creative input on set, noting how she took charge of several aspects of the production. “Blake had amazing ideas [on set], and was very hands-on with the choreography of it. Honestly, there were many instances on set where I let the women figure it out, and I took a step back, and jumped in more as an actor,” he said. He also expressed his confidence in her ability to embody the character, stating, “We had a three-hour meeting, and by the end of it, I knew she was Lily.”

During an appearance on the Today show, Baldoni further emphasized Lively’s multifaceted talents, saying, “I think she’s best known as an actress, and, of course, she’s a fashion icon, but she is so much more than that. She is a dynamic creative. She had her hands in every part of this production, and everything she touched made better.”

But Where Are the Red Carpet Photos?

Despite these glowing remarks, fans have noticed that Baldoni and Lively have not been photographed together on the red carpet during the press tour. At the New York premiere, Baldoni was seen with his wife, Emily, while Lively posed with co-star Brandon Sklenar, actor Hugh Jackman, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. This absence of joint appearances has led to speculation about a potential rift.

Adding to the intrigue, Lively has been doing most of her press alongside Brandon Sklenar, further fueling rumors of behind-the-scenes discord.

Ryan Reynolds’ Involvement Raises Eyebrows

Compounding the speculation is the revelation that Ryan Reynolds, Lively’s husband, contributed to writing an “iconic” scene in the movie. While Lively’s producer role might justify such involvement, fans have questioned whether Baldoni, who is both the director and one of the producers, might feel overshadowed. In an interview with E! News, Lively shared, “The iconic rooftop scene, my husband actually wrote it… We help each other. He works on everything I do. I work on everything he does.”

This has led some to wonder if Reynolds’ influence has inadvertently created tension, particularly given that he seems to be more involved in the movie’s PR than Baldoni.

Social Media Snubs and Post-Production Drama

Another point of speculation revolves around social media. Observant fans have noted that neither Lively, Colleen Hoover (the book’s author), nor other key cast members like Jenny Slate and Brandon Sklenar follow Baldoni on Instagram, though he follows them. This apparent social media snub has only added fuel to the fire.

Furthermore, reports from The Hollywood Reporter suggest that there was a “fracture among the filmmakers” during the post-production process, with two different cuts of the movie emerging. This could point to creative differences, further complicating the narrative.

It ends with us instagram/ sony pictures

A PR Stunt or Genuine Tension?

Some speculate that all this drama might be a clever PR stunt, especially given Ryan Reynolds’ involvement in both It Ends With Us and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine movie. Could this be an attempt to create a “Barbenheimer” style buzz around the two films? TikTokers like Arianna Lillie have voiced suspicions that Reynolds might be overshadowing Baldoni’s role in the film, despite Baldoni being the driving force behind its adaptation from the start.

What’s Really Going On?

Whether these rumors have any truth to them or are simply the product of fan speculation and PR tactics remains to be seen. For now, it’s all just conjecture, and only time will tell if there’s more to the story than meets the eye. Whatever the case, the buzz surrounding It Ends With Us—both on and off the screen—shows no signs of slowing down.

You have to dress for the job you want, not the one you have

– Jamila Musayeva

1. Your journey as an etiquette expert and personal development coach is impressive. What initially sparked your interest in etiquette and personal development?

To answer this question, I have to take you back to where I grew up and walk through my life experiences. I was born and raised in Azerbaijan, a small but very multicultural country. Historically, it has been influenced by various countries and cultures. Growing up, I was exposed to different cultures, religions, and languages, as Azerbaijan is a tolerant country where these diverse elements coexist peacefully. This exposure sparked my interest and love for learning about other countries and cultures.

With that in mind, I pursued an academic degree in international relations and completed my undergraduate studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Living there, I was immersed in a completely new culture. Although I had visited the US before, it was different to live there and experience American culture firsthand. I was always curious about why people lived a certain way and followed specific rules.

In my third year, I had the opportunity to attend an etiquette workshop in Washington, DC, which was a revelation for me. I had never thought one could actually work in this field. Later, I moved to Belgium to pursue a master’s degree in European administration and politics. Living in Europe exposed me to yet another way of life, different from the US. This constant exposure to diverse cultures further fueled my interest in understanding why people do things differently.

Etiquette, at its core, is about the rules and norms of society, influenced by history, lifestyle, religion, and the mentality of a country. My passion for this subject grew, but I never considered it a potential career until COVID-19 hit. The pandemic forced me to adapt to a new reality. I began recording classes I previously offered in person and posting videos on YouTube. This shift made me realize I could fully dedicate myself to etiquette and personal development.

By 2019, I had already written two books and taught courses at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy. I conducted in-person classes both locally and internationally. However, it was through social media that I discovered the potential to build a significant career in this field. Social media allowed me to fully immerse myself in etiquette and personal development, transforming my passion into a profession. Although my background is in international relations, I found more joy in teaching etiquette and personal development than any other subject.

2. Can you share some insights into how your background in diplomatic protocol has influenced your approach to teaching etiquette and refined behavior?

It’s directly related because of my education in international relations. At George Washington University, I minored in History and Sociology, and as part of the international relations curriculum, I attended workshops on etiquette in Washington, DC. While living in Belgium, I also participated in a masterclass on diplomatic protocol and dining etiquette. These experiences were integral to my academic education and naturally aligned with my interests.

Upon returning to Azerbaijan, I started teaching at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy. I noticed that many young people studying international relations lacked the polished manners necessary to excel as diplomats or to present themselves in the best light. This realization inspired me to focus on teaching etiquette to the younger generation. My goal was to spark an interest in etiquette and help make good manners fashionable again.

Manners seem to have been lost in modern society, with many people believing they are no longer important. However, as one progresses in their academic or professional career, it becomes evident that certain manners are essential for socializing with those who value and appreciate them.

I often say, “You have to dress for the job you want, not the one you have.” Similarly, you need to have the manners for the job you aspire to, not just the one you currently hold. This mindset has shaped my approach to teaching etiquette and refined behavior, emphasizing the importance of polished manners for professional and personal success.

3. With such a broad array of expertise, from business etiquette to body language coaching, which area do you find most challenging to teach and why?

I wouldn’t say that these teachings are very different from each other. The way I teach body language is not like CIA training or what specialized body language coaches might offer. Instead, I incorporate body language as a significant aspect of etiquette. It plays a crucial role in expressing emotions, making impressions, projecting confidence, and exuding charisma—all essential elements of presenting oneself to the world.

Business etiquette and social etiquette, in general, heavily involve deportment—how we carry ourselves, walk, talk, and sit. Body language is a fundamental part of this. Therefore, while my approach to teaching body language might differ from that of a dedicated body language expert, it is integral to the courses I teach.

4. As an accomplished author of etiquette books, what do you believe are the most crucial etiquette skills for individuals to master in today’s society?

Well, the list is quite extensive, but I would say the most important skill that seems to be getting lost in today’s society is kindness and respect for others. As people become more egocentric and focused solely on themselves, they often neglect these fundamental values. Alongside self-respect and self-love, it’s crucial to practice love and respect for others, despite our differences. I always say that “different is beautiful.” Not everyone has to live or do things the way you do, and that’s okay.

Etiquette teaches certain standard forms of behavior, such as dining etiquette, which is essential in multicultural gatherings. For example, it would be chaotic if everyone at an international dinner table used their own cultural dining methods. There are standard dining protocols to follow, but it’s also important to understand and respect cultural differences. For instance, in Asia, chopsticks are used, in the Middle East, people might eat with their fingers, and in the West, forks and knives are common. Knowing and respecting these differences shows appreciation for other cultures.

Ultimately, we need to be more open-minded, respectful, and kind towards others. By understanding and being curious about different cultures and ways of living, we practice kindness and etiquette. At its core, etiquette is all about being considerate and mindful of others.

5. Your soft skills courses and training programs are highly regarded. What do you think are the most essential soft skills for success in both personal and professional settings?

I love to quote Maya Angelou, who said, “People will forget what you said, they’ll forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” This perfectly encapsulates the essence of soft skills. The most important soft skills are those that influence how people feel around you.

Firstly, the ability to listen is crucial. Active listening is the number one soft skill to practice. To become a better speaker, you must first become a better listener. When you listen well, you can ask the right questions, make thoughtful comments, and engage effectively in conversations. Therefore, improving your listening skills directly enhances your speaking abilities, which is vital for success in both personal and professional settings.

Secondly, how you present yourself to the world is essential. This includes your body language—how you walk, sit, and show up in various situations. Being mindful of your body language can significantly impact how others perceive you. Much is communicated without words, so always be aware of the signals you’re sending through your body language.

In summary, active listening and mindful body language are key soft skills that contribute to success in all areas of life.

6. Your YouTube channel has nearly 1 million subscribers. How do you decide on the content you produce, and what topics resonate most with your audience?

The content for my YouTube channel has always come from the heart. When I was just starting, I created the kind of videos I wished I could find online. YouTube has always been my go-to when searching for information on how to do things, and I often couldn’t find interesting or relevant videos that resonated with me. I wanted my content to be relevant and engaging, so I focused on what I needed and what I would search for myself.

Additionally, I frequently ask my audience for video suggestions. They leave comments, DM me, or email me with their ideas. I keep a notebook with all their suggestions and make videos based on their input as well as my own inspiration. This blend of personal interest and audience recommendations shapes the content I produce.

As for what topics resonate most with my audience, it’s often unpredictable. It’s challenging to determine which videos will be most popular. Despite thorough research, you never really know how a video will be received until you put it out there. For example, a short video on how to eat a banana has garnered over 6 million views, but I doubt it has significantly impacted people’s lives. Many found it funny or made memes about it.

On the other hand, videos like “How to Manage Time,” “How to Elevate Your Life,” “How to Live More Elegantly,” and “How to Become More Organized” didn’t go viral but have made a tremendous impact. People email me saying these videos helped them get a job interview or improve their lives.

I now measure the success of my videos not by views but by the feedback I receive through emails and DMs on Instagram. It’s about the positive impact my content has on people’s lives.

7. Can you elaborate on the unique perspective you bring to movie reviews on your Patreon Community, and how this reflects your approach to etiquette and personal development?

My Patreon community is very special to me because these members choose to support me not only financially but also with their time and comments. This connection motivates me to create content that I would personally enjoy and find valuable.

When watching movies, I always pay attention to different scenes and analyze them from an etiquette perspective. I used to do this in-person with my students, using case studies to dissect scenes together in class. However, when COVID hit, I had to transition online. Initially, I uploaded these analyses to YouTube, but I faced copyright issues that prevented my audience from fully enjoying the content.

As a solution, I started my Patreon community, where I could publish monthly etiquette analyses of various movies without those restrictions. Since establishing this community, I have analyzed over 40 different movies, ranging from classics to new releases.

This unique content combines my love for movies with my expertise in etiquette and personal development. It offers my audience a distinctive perspective that they can’t find elsewhere, reflecting my commitment to bringing etiquette into everyday contexts and helping people develop a deeper understanding of social norms and behaviors through popular culture.

8. You’ve conducted meet and greets worldwide, fostering genuine connections with your followers. Can you share a memorable experience or story from these interactions that has particularly inspired you?

My very first meet and greet was in Washington, DC, at the Four Seasons Hotel. I remember walking in feeling absolutely nervous because I had never connected with my followers in person like that before. To manage this, I kept the group small, under 15 people, so I could give individual attention to everyone within the two-hour timeframe we had.

What left me completely in awe was the diversity of the group. Women aged 20 to 60 from different backgrounds, cultures, religions, and professional fields attended. There was a doctor from LA who flew in to see me, a psychotherapist, a military navy person, a woman working at the World Bank, an entrepreneur, a scientist, and a historian.

I sat there thinking, “Thank God for this opportunity.” It was incredible to have such a diverse group of people in one room, all connected by their interest in etiquette and good manners. They were eager to become more culturally aware and many expressed a newfound interest in embracing their femininity, a topic I frequently cover.

Each meet and greet continues to fascinate me. When people ask about my audience, I find it difficult to pinpoint because they are so diverse in age and background. What truly connects them is their shared interest in etiquette and good manners.

9. Fluency in six languages and a cosmopolitan outlook certainly enrich your coaching. How do these experiences shape your approach to teaching and connecting with a global audience?

What makes my teachings stand out and allows me to connect with a diverse audience is my non-conservative approach to etiquette. Many of my colleagues have a very traditional view on etiquette, presenting it as rigid and inflexible. This can create a disconnect with the younger generation, who may not see its relevance.

I educate on etiquette by emphasizing that these manners and rules exist not to constrain behavior but to empower people. Knowing these rules is a skill that makes you feel more comfortable and confident in various situations. I show that elegance and good manners aren’t about conforming to a specific look or rigid behavior. You can be yourself, dress differently, and still be elegant and well-mannered.

My exposure to different cultures and languages has given me a more open-minded outlook on life. I respect diverse ways of living and believe that etiquette is about making others feel comfortable around you. This might mean temporarily restraining certain behaviors or comments that could offend others.

In today’s online world, where people often feel detached from the consequences of their words, my message is to be kinder, more understanding, and more respectful. If you feel the urge to write something hurtful, try writing it in a notebook and then tearing the page apart instead of posting it. We must be accountable for our actions and words, and etiquette helps us learn how to do that.

Versatile and accomplished, Adelina Zhiyanski is often described as a Jack of All Trades. Over the past five years, her journey in Politics and National Security has been dynamic and impactful. While pursuing studies at both Sofia University and the Military Academy in Bulgaria, Adelina aimed to extend her influence globally. This ambition led to her becoming the president of a renowned European Youth Organization, where she delivered speeches at the United Nations in Geneva—pivotal moments in her quest to be an impactful leader.

Adelina’s pursuits are not confined to politics alone. She has nurtured her artistic soul, showcasing her Ferrari car photography at the prestigious Ferrari showroom. Currently, Adelina contributes her skills to a prominent company in the UK and works as a real estate broker. In parallel, she has founded her own company, Anoble Swire, which is dedicated to personal assistance and concierge services. This diverse spectrum of experiences reflects Adelina’s commitment to excellence across various domains.

1. Your journey spans across politics, national security, academia, and entrepreneurship. How do you balance such diverse interests and pursuits?

I have always been passionate about multilayered and interdisciplinary knowledge. For me, it’s all about prioritizing my time effectively. When I engage in a task, I give it my undivided attention, avoiding distractions to maintain full control and focus. Most of all- I never really stress. That’s how I successfully balance all these aspects of my life, meeting deadlines and ensuring success 99% of the time.

2. As the president of a prominent European Youth Organization, what were some of the most impactful initiatives you spearheaded during your tenure?

My journey in European politics began long ago, initially on the European stage before shifting my focus to the national level. As president of a European NGO, I made a significant impact through various youth-focused projects. From producing podcasts and interviews with successful professionals in diverse fields to participating in the “Our Food, Our Future” project, I aimed to empower young people to drive change. These initiatives helped reshape perspectives on food and emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability.

3. You’ve delivered speeches at the United Nations in Geneva. Could you share a memorable moment or experience from that platform?

This moment likely marks the peak of my journey in European politics, with each part of it being truly memorable. One interesting aspect of the United Nations is that every speech must be reviewed before being presented to all the delegates. During my speeches, I advocated for sustainability and emphasized the importance of interconnectedness and valuing what we have before it’s too late. Much like in life, we must cherish every moment and seize every opportunity before it’s gone.

4. Your artistic side shines through your Ferrari car photography exhibition. What draws you to automotive photography, and how does it complement your other endeavors?

It all began when I was a child, as my father was the director of Auto Italy. Instead of playing with dolls, I played with toy cars, and the automotive industry became a significant part of my life. My passion for it has remained ever since. Last year, I was inspired to exhibit my photographs at the Ferrari Showroom. Ferrari, being pure art, deserved this showcase, and it was a great success. For my father and me, it was a way to honor cherished childhood memories, for which I am extremely grateful.

5. Transitioning from academia to real estate brokerage and entrepreneurship is quite a leap. What inspired you to venture into these fields, and how do they align with your long-term goals?

Interestingly, there was no gradual transition. I chose to add these two pursuits to my life because I saw great potential in both. In brokerage, the appeal lay in its dynamic nature and the opportunities it offered for strategic growth and networking. Throughout my journey, I’ve had many mentors, all of whom, including my father, were entrepreneurs. Inspired by their drive and vision, I always aspired to do something impactful, to manage effectively, and to improve lives. This aspiration led me to create Anoble Swire, a personal assistance company dedicated to providing top-tier support and enhancing the quality of life for our clients. Because it’s all about understanding Life and having someone you trust to manage it.

6. Could you tell us more about your company, Anoble Swire, and the vision behind it? How do personal assistance and concierge services tie into your broader professional journey?

Absolutely. Anoble Swire is more than just a personal assistance and concierge service, it’s a manifestation of my commitment to excellence and my desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. The vision is to redefine the concept of personal assistance by providing tailored, high-quality support that empowers our clients to live their lives to the fullest. In today’s fast-paced world, time is everything and without good management – it’s impossible to succeed.

After working with the most successful entrepreneurs, I saw a common denominator- they did not have enough time to manage all aspects of their lives. Drawing from my background in entrepreneurship, I have instilled a culture of innovation, efficiency, and client-centricity within the company. My experiences in various industries have equipped me with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of the importance of personalized solutions.

In essence, Anoble Swire is the culmination of an idea that was held for a long time—a testament to my dedication to service, innovation, and making a positive impact in the lives of others. Because for me, time is the most valuable asset.

7. What challenges have you encountered while navigating such diverse career paths, and how have you overcome them?

I refrain from calling them challenges. Instead, I see them as opportunities. These moments in life reveal our true desires and test our willingness to invest effort and energy without losing faith. In my journey, I’ve encountered numerous opportunities. It’s crucial to select our battles wisely. Sometimes, certain endeavors aren’t worth our time and energy, while others are worth every ounce of dedication. Overcoming temporary setbacks requires viewing them as character-building experiences, valuable lessons that ultimately contribute to personal growth and improvement.

8. With your background in politics and national security, how do you envision leveraging your expertise to influence positive change in the world?

Understanding the intricate interplay between politics and national security is vital in navigating the complexities of our world. With rapid advancements in technology, shifting geopolitical landscapes, and emerging threats, staying well-educated in these areas is not just beneficial but absolutely necessary for effective decision-making and strategic planning in every aspect of life. It’s important to note it’s not only studying the history, it’s about continuously monitoring trends, analyzing potential risks, and anticipating future challenges. In that way, one can proactively address global issues and work towards fostering stability, security, and progress on a personal scale and on a global one. It’s been 3 years since I have been into both fields and can say one thing- the future is unpredictable, but history has this tendency of repeating itself in different nuances. All we need to do is open our eyes and simply- think.

9. As someone who has studied at both Sofia University and the Military Academy in Bulgaria, how have your academic experiences shaped your worldview and approach to leadership?

It is a tough road, but surely a valuable one. Both politics and national security have proven to be invaluable realms of study, given their profound interconnectedness. Delving into these fields of academic exploration has not only expanded my knowledge but also transformed my perspective on various topics. Through rigorous academic engagement, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the intricate dynamics shaping our world today and why events in the past took place in a specific way. Moreover, I’ve come to appreciate the critical importance of effective leadership and strategic thinking in addressing complex challenges and driving positive change. This journey has not only enriched my intellectual capabilities but has also instilled in me a sense of responsibility to contribute meaningfully to society through informed action and principled decision-making.

10. What advice would you give to young professionals aspiring to carve out a similarly multifaceted career path?

Time is not your adversary, it’s your ally, provided that you make every second count.

Archana Dhankar captivates over 123k Instagram followers and 200k across platforms as a social media influencer. Her 12 years of blogging, marked by storytelling and visual flair, have earned her accolades and a reputation for authenticity. Archana’s engaging narratives make her a trusted voice in lifestyle, marketing, and personal branding.

Brands seek her expertise for impactful influencer campaigns, appreciating her authenticity and strategic content creation. Her adaptability in the digital landscape makes her a beacon for aspiring influencers and marketers.

As the Senior Director of Global Demand Generation at Sutherland, Archana leverages 18 years of marketing experience to drive revenue growth and client engagement. With an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School, she blends academic insight with practical expertise, making her a sought-after coach and strategist in social media marketing.

1. Archana, with a big following, how do you keep your content real for all your different followers?

In the dynamic world of influencer marketing, maintaining authenticity is paramount. As an influencer with a large following, it’s crucial to personalise the brand message and build a community, not just a following. This involves a deep understanding of the audience and continuously adapting to the audience’s needs to maintain a genuine connection.

Authenticity is the bedrock of trust between an influencer and their audience. It requires a blend of transparency, genuineness, and relatability in content creation. This means being true to oneself, showing vulnerability, and engaging with the audience in a meaningful way.

2. You’ve been blogging for over 12 years – how has your way of blogging changed, and what important things have you learned?

Over the past 12 years, my blogging has evolved significantly. Initially, it was more about images and written content, but now it’s a blend of personal insights shared through video. I’ve learned the importance of engaging content, adapting to digital trends, and the power of storytelling. It’s vital to stay authentic and continuously innovate to keep the audience engaged.

3. Making interesting content is important. Can you tell us about a time when your content plan really clicked with your audience?

I integrate my Indian heritage into my content, focusing on the vibrant fabrics and cultural nuances. This approach resonates deeply with my audience. My style is a blend of personal storytelling and cultural exploration, and the response is overwhelmingly positive, reflecting a genuine appreciation for diversity in fashion. Also, I bring my experience of exploring British Indian life, which makes the content unique and resonates with others from the community.

4. Brands like your advice. What do you think about when making campaigns to make both your audience and the brand happy?

I align the brand’s goals with my audience’s interests when creating campaigns. I ensure the content is authentic and resonates with my followers while fulfilling the brand’s objectives. It’s about striking a balance between creative storytelling and strategic marketing, ensuring the content is engaging and adds value for my audience and the brand.

5. Social media changes a lot. How do you keep up with the latest trends and make sure your content stays interesting?

I continuously learn and explore to stay abreast of social media trends. I observe emerging patterns, adapt quickly, and integrate new ideas into my content. It’s about listening to my audience, experimenting with different formats, and leveraging analytics to understand what resonates. This approach ensures my content remains relevant and exciting in the ever-evolving social media landscape.

6. Balancing a corporate role with being a social media influencer is unique. How do you integrate your personal brand into your professional identity, and vice versa?

Balancing my corporate role and being a social media influencer involves a synergistic approach. I integrate my professional expertise and insights into my personal brand, offering a unique blend of industry knowledge and personal experiences. Conversely, the authenticity and creativity of my influencer persona enrich my professional identity, making me a more relatable and dynamic corporate leader.

7. Your MBA is impressive. How does what you learned in school show up in your influencer work, and how do you use both theory and real-life experience?

My MBA has been instrumental in my influencer work, particularly in strategic thinking and brand management. The theories I learned provide a structured approach to marketing and audience engagement, which I apply in my content strategy. Combining this with real-life experiences allows me to create authentic and professional content that resonates well with my audience and collaborators.

8. Building a community is a strength of yours. What tricks do you use to get your followers more involved and connected?

I focus on interactive and personalised content, including Q&A sessions, engaging stories, and behind-the-scenes glimpses. I also prioritise responding to comments and messages, creating a two-way dialogue. Regularly seeking feedback and incorporating their ideas into my content helps make sure I am connected with my community in the deepest way possible.

9. Social media is always changing. What are the hardest things you’ve faced, and how did you solve them?

One of the most demanding challenges I’ve faced in social media is adapting to its constant changes, especially algorithm updates. To overcome this, I create evergreen content that consistently engages my audience, regardless of the platform’s evolving nature. I also stay proactive in learning new trends and applying them innovatively, ensuring my content remains relevant and appealing.

10. Lastly, for those who want to be influencers, what advice do you have based on your experience and success?

For aspiring influencers, my advice is to stay authentic and true to your unique voice. It’s essential to understand your audience and create content that resonates with them while also reflecting your personal brand. Consistency and willingness to learn and adapt to new trends are vital. Most importantly, be patient and persistent; success in influencing doesn’t happen overnight.

Dr. Sheila Nazarian is an Emmy Nominated, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with a private practice in Beverly Hills. She has a Masters in Medical Management degree from the Marshall School of Business at USC. She also serves as Assistant Professor in Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Southern California. She is the founder of Nazarian Plastic Surgery, Spa26, The Skin Spot e-commerce site, and the Nazarian Institute where she brings thought leaders to teach business owners in the luxury space to Think BIG – Branding, Innovation, Growth. Dr. Nazarian is the star of the Emmy Nominated Netflix Original Series, Skin Decision: Before and After. She is married to a neurosurgeon, Dr. Fardad Mobin, has three children. She also enjoys being an influencer in the digital space: @drsheilanazarian, @themodelsurgeon, @spa26.official, @theskinspotbeverlyhills, @thinkbig on Instagram and Nazarian Plastic Surgery on Facebook/YouTube.

1. Your journey is truly inspiring, from being an Emmy-nominated Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to an Assistant Professor at USC. How do you balance your clinical practice, teaching, and entrepreneurial ventures effectively?

Balance is always a challenge and I think what has worked for me is hiring the right staff who I can reliably delegate to.  My personal assistant at home helps with small personal and professional tasks and also picking up the kids from school. My COO helps execute overarching goals for the practice and my businesses. I do most of my teaching on social media, through podcasts, webinars and conferences. Since I am in charge of my own scheduling, these are things that I just have to block off time for. It is true that there aren’t enough hours in the day but we all just do our best.

2. With a background in both medical and business fields, how do you integrate your expertise in medical management with your passion for plastic surgery to create a unique patient experience?

I learned in business school that nothing has to be invented. It has all been done before… just in a different industry. I starting the Nazarian Institute and ThinkBIG! online to bring experts from other disciplines to talk about their learnings so that we don’t have to reinvent the wheel in the healthcare beauty space.

3. Your role extends beyond your private practice, as you’re also the founder of Spa26, The Skin Spot e-commerce site, and the Nazarian Institute. Could you share your vision behind each of these ventures and how they contribute to the luxury space?

Spa26 is my medical spa which we hope to expand into multiple locations. We have over 30 devices and access to all injectables which we use to rejuvenate as stand alone treatments or maintain and enhance the results of surgery. The Skin Spot is our curated, medical-grade ecommerce site so that everyone can benefit from our experience in the best of the best in beauty and wellness. The Nazarian Institute is my non-profit where we teach surgical, business, and branding skills to healthcare providers.

4. Being a thought leader, you’re known for advocating “Think BIG” – Branding, Innovation, Growth. How do you apply these principles to both your medical practice and your business ventures?

It is not enough to be an excellent surgeon anymore. If no one knows about you, you aren’t helping anyone. Branding is essential to every business, and healthcare is not an exception. Innovation is at the heart of plastic surgery. There are new techniques and devices all of the time. It is key to our industry to innovate and to stay on top of innovations, not just in the treatment forum, but also in the online forum. For example, right now, I am working with AI to see how it can improve the patient experience. Growth is so important personally.  If you are not growing in the way you think and experience things, you will not grow professionally. For example, so many physicians suffer from imposter syndrome. Or they won’t post educational content because their hair wasn’t perfect, or they said umm. We have to grow personally and not stand in our own success.

5. Your presence extends to the digital realm as well, with significant influence on various Instagram accounts and other platforms. How do you use social media to educate, engage, and inspire your audience about plastic surgery and wellness?

I am so grateful that people want to listen to what I have to say. Most of the time, I am not in agreement with everyone else and I am not afraid to share my thoughts on beauty, religion, or politics. I always say that my family didn’t escape Iran for me to be quiet.

6. As the star of the Emmy-nominated Netflix Original Series, “Skin Decision: Before and After,” you bring plastic surgery transformations to a wider audience. How has this platform changed the way people perceive aesthetic procedures?

I think the show gave a lot of people permission to get aesthetic procedures. My colleagues would tell me that their patients would come in and talk about how the show gave them the confidence to make that appointment.

7. One of your accomplishments includes developing an organic line of skincare products for pregnant and lactating women. How did your own experiences as a mother influence the creation of these products?

When I was in business school, this was my project. Since then, I have moved on to more active ingredients with NazarianSkin as I learned about what products would give the best results.

8. With your expertise in plastic surgery and your diverse background, how do you see the field evolving, particularly in terms of embracing inclusivity and catering to a wider range of patients?

I think darker skin types have been neglected for a long time. As a person of color, I know dark skin because I treat myself to all of this stuff and have been for 15 years. I also created NazarianSkin with darker skin tones in mind. In the future, I do see darker skin types being included in studies more. It is a hugely untapped market and the need is there.

9. Your dedication to mentorship and volunteer work is commendable. How do you balance these commitments with your busy practice, and what motivates you to continue investing in education and guidance for others?

I just look at my three children and I want to leave an accepting world behind for them. I do a lot of work to fight antisemitism and that started when I saw the statistic that over 50% of Jewish students on college campuses actively hide their Jewish identity. My eldest is only a couple years away from college now and I started my activism in a big way a few years ago. I want her to go to college and find spaces to share her thoughts without fear and to learn from others as well.

10. You’re married to a neurosurgeon and have three children, yet manage to maintain a remarkable professional trajectory. How do you navigate the demands of both your personal and professional life?

Family is the most important and always comes first. I pull back from work when needed to make sure my family is doing well. I think working is amazing and I am so grateful to have such an amazing career.  But I want to make sure women reading this know that the whole boss babe image is a lie. Motherhood and having a supportive husband are more fulfilling than anything else. Don’t give that up for a job that doesn’t hug you when you get home. And what good is building an empire if you have no one to give it to when you go?

11. Your Instagram handle “The Model Surgeon” suggests a unique blend of aesthetics and surgical skill. How do you see the intersection between aesthetics and medicine evolving in the coming years?

We are already seeing a blend with the semiglutide trend. Putting patients on weight loss medications has been a great help to get patients ready physically for aesthetic treatments. For example, someone wanting a lot of liposuction may only need a little bit after weight loss. But as we age, insulin resistance makes it a lot harder to lose weight. Medications like ozempic and mounjaro have helped a lot of my patients.

12. Your work involves empowering individuals through aesthetic enhancement. How do you address the balance between personal empowerment and promoting a healthy body image in the age of social media?

Most of my patients are already empowered. They just need help with a little something that diet and exercise haven’t been able to resolve. What you put out on social media is what you attract. I put out empowerment so I attract empowered patients.

13. What would you say to our readers, who would like to see you as a model?

Being a role model means maintaining integrity, strong core values, and staying true to yourself. We can all be role models.

As you step into your 20s, taking care of your skin becomes essential for maintaining a healthy and youthful glow. The journey to radiant skin involves finding the right products that cater to your specific needs. Here are eight must-have skin-care products to incorporate into your routine before you hit the big 30

  1. Gentle Cleanser:

Start with a mild cleanser to remove impurities without stripping your skin of its natural oils. Look for ingredients like chamomile or aloe vera for a soothing cleanse.

  1. Hydrating Moisturizer:

Keep your skin hydrated with a lightweight moisturizer. Opt for one with hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture and maintain a plump, supple complexion.

  1. SPF Protection:

Shield your skin from harmful UV rays by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. This simple step can prevent premature aging and protect against sun damage.

  1. Vitamin C Serum:

Introduce a vitamin C serum into your routine to brighten and even out your skin tone. This powerful antioxidant helps combat free radicals, promoting a more radiant complexion.

  1. Retinol Treatment:

As you approach 30, consider incorporating a retinol treatment to stimulate collagen production and reduce fine lines. Start with a lower concentration and gradually increase as your skin builds tolerance.

  1. Eye Cream:

Combat dark circles and puffiness with a nourishing eye cream. Ingredients like caffeine and hyaluronic acid can work wonders in revitalizing the delicate skin around your eyes.

  1.  Chemical Exfoliant:

Incorporate a chemical exfoliant, such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid, to slough off dead skin cells and promote cell turnover. This helps maintain a smooth and clear complexion.

  1. Sleeping Mask:

Treat your skin to an overnight boost with a hydrating sleeping mask. Wake up to a refreshed and revitalized face by incorporating this step into your weekly routine.

Remember, consistency is key when it comes to skincare. Start with a basic routine and gradually introduce new products to allow your skin to adjust. As you approach your 30s, these essential products will lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy and radiant skin.

With over a decade in marketing across national and global scales in competitive industries like automotive, sports, and cosmetics, HVH Media & Marketing was founded.

Specializing in campaigns with major influencers, transforming startups into seven-figure businesses in six months, creating a cosmetics brand for Amazon beauty, and achieving over a billion campaign content views, our Hayden’s passion extends to her business, motherhood, and empowering women to invest in their dreams.

  1. Your journey from a decade in marketing to establishing HVH Media & Marketing is impressive. Could you share the pivotal moments that led to the inception of your own marketing agency?

I read a study recently that suggested that most successful entrepreneurs have some element of trauma in their life that sparked positive change and provided some form of character building blocks that lead to the inception of their success.  I personally feel that I fall into this category.  I’ve elaborated in previous articles on some of the chaos and trauma in my formative years that lead up to the point where I took a risk and bet on myself. I am always grateful for some of the most painful moments in my life, because they truly were stepping stones towards my journey to success.

  1. Working across diverse industries such as automotive, sports, and cosmetics requires unique strategies. How has your broad experience influenced the content and direction of HVH Media & Marketing?

I think the most important thing that I learned about the diverse industries that I worked in, was that my marketing expertise wasn’t linear, and that I actually enjoyed the challenge of taking on so many different industries and finding an avenue for marketing success.  I’ve since parlayed that into being able to build a diverse agency that doesn’t thwart its own scalability by being overly niche or siloed.  We really have worked with clients from religious television networks to sex toys.  If we believe in your brand, we can help you win.

  1. Collaborating with world-renowned influencers is no small feat. Can you provide insight into how you build and maintain relationships with influencers to create impactful campaigns?

Relationships are often convoluted by what people think they should be doing that they forget the most important part about relationships is that they have to happen organically and come from a place of authenticity that can evolve into trust.  I think in business, people get so stuck on this idea of a “work persona” or “business appropriate” that they forget that people want to do business with people they are friends with.  To create friendships, you can’t be stuck creating safe surface level relationships, you need to be a person who puts themselves out there in a real way and invests in the real lives of the people you’re trying to create relationships with.

When I was working at some of the most elite levels of influencer relationships, I always remembered that these people on a daily basis are met with such a ridiculous amount of fandom, that the “fan” approach doesn’t work at fostering a real connection.  Sure, it’s flattering, but people don’t feel equal to their “fans” and equality is a key element in a relationship.  A person needs to feel like you are on the same level in order to consider continuing a meaningful relationship.

One of the easiest ways to achieve this, is to create relationships before “asks”.  So much of the business world revolves around creating a relationship WHEN we need something, instead of BEFORE we need it.  If you begin a relationship WHEN you need something, it is hard for it to be anything more than transactional.  If you create a relationship BEFORE you need something, it’s much easier to have a business related “ask” down the line, because prior to that, you’ve built a genuine foundation first.

The best campaigns and promotions come from people who actually care about whether or not you succeed or fail.  The only way to create this in an authentic way is to build real bonds.

  1.  Your portfolio includes transforming start-ups into million-dollar businesses in a short span. What key marketing principles have been instrumental in achieving such rapid growth?

The marketing strategies implemented to evolve start-ups into million-dollar businesses evolves around doing something that competitors are unwilling to do. It is also about being strategic with your marketing spend.   Knowing where to place these dollars is why you need an agency.

Some of the most important marketing principles that I have learned are:

  • Done is better than perfect.
  • The power of genuine peer or influential testimony can really make or break a brand.
  • Don’t skimp on customer service.
  • Marketing is magical but it isn’t not magic, trust the process.
  • Do something your competitors aren’t willing to do.
  1. Developing a cosmetics brand for Amazon beauty is a notable accomplishment. How do you approach the branding and marketing of products in the highly competitive cosmetics industry?

At the time that I was helping to develop a cosmetics brand for Amazon beauty, Amazon wasn’t able to get a profitable piece of the luxury cosmetic space and so they were trying to create their own.

The most exciting part of this project was trying to come up with a brand that was interesting to the Amazon customer avatar, stay within budget parameters, come up with avenues to enrich our margins, and decide what would be necessary to advertise and market it.  Understanding the mind of your consumer and where to find them, what will resonate with them, and how to get them to buy is an intense but exhilarating process.

Anytime that you’re working in a new area, you have to get creative and take some risks.  You also NEED digital advertising and marketing budget.  When you’re competing in a highly competitive space like cosmetics, it DOES require dollars.  It is impossible to even make a splash in the ocean of cosmetics, but you can with great marketing, revolutionary strategy, and the right kind of calculated risks.

  1. You’ve collectively garnered over a billion campaign content views. What strategies do you employ to ensure your campaigns resonate deeply with your target audience?
  • Know your product, know what it solves, know who it solves it for, and make sure it’s safe and effective.
  • Know your buyer, what makes them tick, and where they are looking for you.
  • Work with influential people who genuinely want to promote and align with your brand.
  • Be open to taking a risk and doing something different.
  • Work quickly but have patience.
  1. Empowering women is a clear passion of yours. How does this ethos translate into the content and messages you curate through HVH Media & Marketing?

Empowering women is a huge passion of mine.  I am currently an all female agency. There are plenty of industries where women have to fight for their place in it and I wanted to create a space where women were prioritized, appreciated, and elevated.  Great women help other women be great too.  I practice what I preach.

  1. Being a successful businesswoman and a mother is a commendable balance. Can you share your insights on managing these roles and any advice for other women aspiring to do the same?

This is a great question and I am still trying to figure it out.  Anyone who says it’s easy to do both, is likely not as good of a businesswoman or parent as they try and say they are. Being a businesswoman and the kind of mother I want to be, are both more than full-time jobs and there are only 24 hours in a day.

Some things I have learned:

  • You have to create time.  Sometimes this means getting up earlier or staying up a bit later.  I have noticed I can get more done when the rest of the world sleeps.  This will set you apart.
  • Create boundaries and be firm about them.
  • Be incredibly organized.
  • Don’t say “yes” when you mean “no”.  Say it without guilt and remember that you don’t need to justify your “no”
  • Time is your most valuable commodity; you don’t get it back. Cherish it above all.
  • Your business won’t hold your hand when you’re sick, your family will, but it will pay the medical bills; appreciate them in that order.
  • Great parents always feel like they are doing a bad job, because just caring about whether or not you’re doing a good job, usually means you are.
  • Give yourself some grace.  It will make the process smoother.
  • Life is short, happiness counts. Do what makes you happy.
  1. HVH Media & Marketing likely faces the challenges of staying relevant in the fast-paced digital world. How do you stay ahead of trends and consistently provide valuable content to your readers?

You stay relevant in an evolving market by staying educated on the elements that are ever-changing.  All great experts are humble enough to remain students of their craft.  There is always more to learn.

  1.  Your journey is an inspiration to many. What vision do you hold for the future of HVH Media & Marketing, and how do you plan to continue inspiring and empowering through your platform?

I plan to continue to grow HVH Media & Marketing and evolve it into other business ventures that are intended to help others.  I would like to continue to foster an environment for women to have an avenue to really love what they do and have fun doing it.  I also want to allow it to be a stepping stone and form of mentorship for other women who are looking for a place to stop on the road of their own journey to entrepreneurship.  I never want to be like some of the employers that I had previously that I felt capitalized and took advantage of my capabilities.  I want to make sure that I never let the people that work with me feel small or beneath me, I want them to feel like we co-create and grow collectively.

I want to be able to have the means to say “yes” to life in a big way and give my children the tools to do the same. I want to be able to say “yes’ to their hopes and dreams and provide them with whatever tools they need to get that done.  That is my goal.

Christiana was born in London, raised in Eastern Europe, and moved back to the UK to attend boarding school at the age of 13. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and has recently completed a Master’s in Entrepreneurship at King’s College London, by the age of 22. Alongside her academic pursuits, she ventured into modelling, where she gained valuable industry insights and earned her first income, which she used to invest in her own swimwear brand, “Dear Lover.” Christiana is in a relationship with her long term partner who has encouraged and supported her through all her pursuits.

1. Can you share with us the inspiration behind starting your swimwear brand, “Dear Lover” and how your academic background in Business Management and Entrepreneurship played a role in this venture?

I have dedicated six years of my academic journey to study Business (and Entrepreneurship), beginning from my A-levels to the completion of my Masters degree. While my educational background laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial venture, the true wealth of knowledge came from my hands-on experience when I started my business. The practical lessons I gained from starting a business from scratch were significantly different from what I had learned in the classroom.

The driving force behind the creation of my brand ‘Dear Lover’, was a strong desire to create something uniquely my own. In an industry where many brands offer extremely affordable swimwear, often at the cost of poor labour conditions as well as poor product quality, I aimed to provide an alternative, a more-affordable luxury piece. Something timeless and durable that could be worn summer after summer. My vision was to cultivate a loyal customer base, clients who would return to us season after season, and I am proud to say that this has come to be true.

2. You’ve had a diverse upbringing, from London to Eastern Europe. How has this multicultural background influenced your approach to fashion and entrepreneurship? **

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have the best of both worlds, as I spend a lot of time in both London and Bulgaria. Moving to the UK on my own at a very young age instilled in me a strong sense of discipline as well as determination, helping me pursue all of my goals down the line.

Bulgaria has been the foundation of everything I undertake, as it’s where my brand is based and manufactured, and also where my first modelling agency is based. I then got scouted by a modelling agency in London and also began receiving Dear Lover orders from the UK. Today, the UK serves as an integral part of my business, accounting for over 20% of our orders.

3. Transitioning from modeling to running your own swimwear brand is quite a leap. Can you tell us about the key lessons or insights you gained from your modeling career that helped you succeed in the fashion industry?

Modelling has been a significant part of my career as it helped me earn income that I used as an investment to launch Dear Lover. However, throughout my modelling career I have also gained valuable insights that have given me the courage and confidence to launch. I began to understand a lot of insights on marketing during photoshoots for other brands.  Meeting amazing photographers during modelling shoots that have now become trusted partners in photographing images for my own brand.

4. What are the core values or messages you aim to convey through “Dear Lover,” and how do you believe they resonate with your target audience?

Our clients are always keeping themselves well-informed regarding the latest trends, but they also value classic and timeless pieces. They aren’t merely seeking the most affordable option, rather, they understand the value of investing in their swimwear and are conscious of the ethical aspects of their purchases. Dear Lover’s mission is to make women feel unique, elegant, luxurious. I believe women deserve to indulge in the feeling of sophistication through wearing high quality and unique pieces on their body.

Our best sellers, ‘Baby Pink’ and ‘Azure Blue’, represent the desire of women to embrace individuality and make a statement. While Dear Lover does offer a selection of timeless classics including white, nude and black, we are also proud to offer a range of exceptionally unique colours such as ‘Amethyst Purple’ and ‘Emerald Green’.

5. Balancing academics, modelling, and running a business at such a young age is impressive. Could you share some strategies or tips for time management and maintaining focus on your goals?

I began each of my endeavours one by one. Of course, my academics have always been my priority. I always knew I wanted to model, but I waited until I was settled into university before taking modelling seriously. During my final year of university, I dedicated my spare time planning my start up and testing designs and materials, allowing me to launch just before graduating my bachelors before I began my Masters.

I believe in the importance of immediate action once you get an idea in your mind. Nothing happens overnight and the first step always seems difficult until it’s done. Once the initial hurdle is conquered, everything that follows is smooth and simple. I personally don’t view any of my endeavours as “hard work” because I find them enjoyable. You need to like what you do.

Managing time effectively doesn’t necessarily require any complex strategies. I believe the best way to manage your time is to identify your priorities. Make a list of what you want to achieve and the steps you will take to get there.

6. Your relationship with your long-term partner seems to be a source of support and encouragement. How has their involvement influenced your journey in entrepreneurship and fashion?

I will forever be thankful to my partner for his supporting me through everything I do. He is a constant source of motivation and encouragement as well as reassurance. He has encouraged me to go after my goals and has deeply inspired me to leave my comfort zone. His support has been extremely appreciated throughout the last three years.

7.  In today’s digital age, online presence is crucial for brand success. What role has social media played in growing “Dear Lover.” and do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs on effective online branding?

Social media has become an integral part of today’s society. I view social media as business. When it comes to launching and running a business, I can’t envision myself doing it without the power of social media. As we are living in a digital age, we must make the most out of it and use it to our advantage. Establishing your own presence on social media also means you can effectively reach and engage with a broader audience and potential clients.

Posting quality content consistently is the key to success in regards to social media marketing, however, this is not always as simple as it sounds. I have used Instagram Ads, as well as my own personal Instagram account in order to boost brand awareness and sales.

8. As a woman entrepreneur, what challenges have you faced in the fashion industry, and how have you overcome them?

I believe the biggest challenge was overcoming procrastination and actually going out and doing what I said I would do. I am constantly communicating with customers and trying to improve our products weekly based on the feedback we have received. Dear Lover swimwear has improved in quality drastically since the launch of the brand. We are always trying to find ways to improve.

9. Can you tell us about a particular moment or achievement in your career that you are most proud of and why it stands out to you?

Every time I get a new order notification is a moment of achievement for me, because it means someone trust me and trusts what I have created. Loyal customers also give me the confidence that they truly like my brand. Alongside Dear Lover, I have had some amazing modelling opportunities that I am very lucky to be a part of.

10. You’ve made remarkable strides in your career at a young age. What are your future goals and aspirations for both “Dear Lover” and your personal journey in entrepreneurship and fashion?

I am actively in the phase of testing out various concepts for Dear Lover, given the numerous ideas I have. Although swimwear will always be the core of Dear Lover, we are currently looking at exploring new opportunities for the brand.

Regarding my personal journey up to the age of 22, I am very happy with how far I’ve come. I am yet to graduate in the next couple of months and I am excited and open to see what life has to offer.
