What Women Want!

Women want to be heard.

Loved.

Accepted.

Chosen.

Comforted when asked and Worthy of an apology when needed.

Women want to be Respected and Appreciated.

Yet at times, we find it a challenge to provide these basic tenements toward each other.

Most women have a hard time navigating through what we can call ‘conversational challenges’ with other women because it seems we fail to recognize the core needs of each other. Even the most intimate of relationships are at times intertwined with mistrust and the lack of vulnerability that is required to grow stronger.

Why is this?

What women want and yet what we fail to recognize is that women are more susceptible to trauma and traumatic experiences than men.

Five-out-of-ten women experience a traumatic event.

Women tend to experience trauma differently than men and women are diagnosed with PTSD more than men due to our cognitive and emotional responses to trauma.

Trauma blurs the lens of our mirror to see and be seen in a way that can help us navigate even the simplest of conversational challenges we face with each other and when we do not make it a habit to add self-care and self-love into our daily routines, we put ourselves at a disadvantage.

Asking another woman to do for us what we have not yet been able to do for ourselves creates a conversational challenge that neither party can successfully navigate through.

Seems dim right?

Well no.

What women want today and how women are reaching historic levels of accomplishments is shown in part to the many conversations we are now having about self-care. Enduring a global pandemic has helped in this case. Being forced to sit and pay attention to the white noise around us, has in some instances, helped us navigate through the nightmares of our own ego and forcibly made us show up in ways that were more kind, more considerate, more willing and even more reasonable.

You are to be commended!

Whether by necessity or willingness, you showed up for yourself and others in an extraordinary way.

Now, let’s take this a bit further.

Since growth and comfort can never coexist, what areas in your life can you improve upon?

Are there relationships you can mend?

Is there a female you can apologizeto or communicate with?

When we break the barrier of our own conversational challenges and begin to not only show up differently for ourselves but others, we begin to create an environment for other women to show up for themselves and actually get, everything she wants!
