Your 30s can be the most empowering decade of your life—if you play it right. You’ve outgrown people-pleasing, and you’re building a life that reflects your values. Whether it’s in career, wellness, or personal growth, these 10 power moves will keep you leveling up.

1. Negotiate Everything

From salaries to boundaries—your time, energy, and talent are valuable. Start asking for what you deserve.

2. Start or Solidify Your Emergency Fund

Financial freedom is real power. Aim for 3–6 months of expenses saved, and don’t touch it unless it’s urgent.

3. Prioritize Sleep Like a Queen

You can’t glow, grow, or grind if you’re running on fumes. Sleep is a non-negotiable power tool.

4. Build a Personal Board of Advisors

Surround yourself with mentors, honest friends, and growth-minded women who challenge and cheer for you.

5. Say No More Often

Your “yes” should be rare and intentional. Protect your peace like it’s private property.

6. Invest in Yourself

Take the course, get the certification, upgrade your wardrobe—investing in you is never wasted.

7. Own Your Story

The mess, the magic, the mistakes. The more you own your story, the less power it has over you—and the more it can inspire others.

8. Get Comfortable with Being Uncomfortable

Growth rarely comes in your comfort zone. Say yes to the scary-but-right opportunities.

9. Ruthlessly Edit Your Circle

Energy-drainers, gossipers, and chronic complainers? You’re too grown for that. Choose high-vibe company.

10. Define Success for Yourself

Forget society’s checklist. What you want matters more. Redefine success on your terms and chase that.

A timeless and sophisticated wardrobe is a must-have for anyone who wants to exude confidence and style. But creating one can be a daunting task, especially if you’re not sure where to start. In this article, we’ll provide some tips and guidelines to help you put together a wardrobe that will stand the test of time and make you look and feel your best.

woman in brown coat standing near brown wall

First and foremost, it’s important to understand the concept of a timeless wardrobe. A timeless wardrobe is not about following the latest fashion trends or buying the most expensive clothes. Instead, it’s about investing in high-quality, well-made pieces that will last for years and never go out of style. This means choosing classic, versatile items that can be dressed up or down, and pairing them with accessories and other pieces that complement your personal style.

To create a timeless and sophisticated wardrobe, start by taking inventory of the clothes and accessories you already have. Make a list of the items that you love and wear frequently, as well as those that you rarely wear or don’t fit well. This will give you a good idea of what you need to add to your wardrobe to make it more versatile and cohesive.

Next, identify the key pieces that every timeless wardrobe should include. These include a well-fitted blazer, a versatile pair of black pants, a classic white button-down shirt, a little black dress, a quality pair of jeans, a neutral-colored sweater, and a tailored coat. These items can be dressed up or down and paired with a variety of other pieces to create endless outfit options.

Once you have the key pieces in place, it’s time to add some variety to your wardrobe. This can be done through the use of color, pattern, and texture. Choose colors that flatter your skin tone and that can be mixed and matched with your key pieces. For patterns, opt for timeless prints like stripes, polka dots, and plaids. And for texture, consider adding items like a cashmere sweater or a silk blouse to add depth and interest to your outfits.

Accessories are also an important part of a timeless and sophisticated wardrobe. Invest in high-quality, well-made pieces like a leather handbag, a pair of heels, and a statement necklace. These items can add polish and sophistication to any outfit, and can be worn again and again.

Finally, remember that a timeless and sophisticated wardrobe is not about buying a lot of clothes. Instead, it’s about choosing a few key pieces that are well-made, versatile, and reflect your personal style. By following these tips and guidelines, you can create a wardrobe that will make you look and feel your best, no matter what the occasion.

According to the American Psychological Association, women seem to experience more
stress than men, especially working women. This is quite unfortunate and might result from the gender gap that still exists. Unfortunately, women are paid 80% of what men get for the same amount of work.

Accordingly, women are forced to take care of themselves more while juggling work,
sometimes motherhood, and social life. Luckily, it’s not all bitter lemons; thanks to advanced technology, women’s life expectancy has risen to the late 70s and early 80s.

However, they’re still required to work hard to live healthily during this life span.
Among other effective ways of living a healthy lifestyle, Wonder Woman Mag is giving
women tips on how they can improve their overall wellness:

Eating healthy
Today 66.9% of women are obese or overweight in America. Eating healthy meals is one of
the primary ways of taking care of your overall well-being. Not only does it affect your
physical health, but your mental health as well. Studies have shown that overweight women are linked to mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and low-self esteem. Physical health issues include diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and kidney disease.

Avoid food that has a lot of sugar, fast food, and too much fat. Eat lots of fruits, organic
foods, whole grains, and drink a lot of water.

Get enough sleep
According to the sleep foundation, adults should sleep for 7 to 9 hours every day. However, to meet the tight schedule of work, kids, and friends, getting enough sleep becomes a luxury.

Sleep might seem like something you can compromise for other ”important duties” but lack of sleep will leave you feeling irritable, moody, and foggy. As a result, your concentration levels will be affected. You might also find yourself becoming sick or gaining weight.

If you can’t get 7 to 9 hours of sleep at night, spare some time during the day for power
naps to make up for this time.

Make changes
Sometimes you might be doing everything right, but nothing is working out. Consider
making significant changes in your life that will help improve your overall wellness. For
instance, if work is causing a lot of stress, change careers, apply to other firms, or start a
business.

Other times changing the look of your environment might work. Consider decluttering your home, adding house plants, letting in more natural light, or maybe changing your furniture.

Regular exercise
Exercise is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Even if you have 30 minutes of
exercise per day, it will help you keep your health and weight in check. Lack of exercise has proven to cause numerous types of diseases, including heart failure.

The likelihood of getting arthritis or osteoporosis is reduced when you exercise regularly.
Additionally, exercise improves your balance, so you’re always steady. View the session as
something you enjoy for effective exercising, rather than another grind of your day.

Quit bad habits
If women embrace positive habits, with time, they turn out to be a lifestyle. This case is
similar to negative habits. For instance, 1 in 8 women in America smokes, as a result, 14% of women are affected by tobacco addiction. Besides increasing the risk of getting different types of cancer, smoking has an effect on every bodily system.

The same is the case with excessive alcohol intake. Excessive alcohol consumption may
cause irritability and frequent mood swings. Overindulging, binge-watching, excess scrolling through social media, and having no work-life balance are habits women must take care of.

Manage stress
Regardless of the stage of your life you are in, ensure that you spare some time to yourself
for self-care and stress relief. Go for yoga classes, practice meditation, start journaling, go
for therapy, and have enough “me time.” Doing this will help you manage, stress and go on
with your daily routine as required.

Conclusion
Women need to take care of themselves. Through exercise, healthy eating, drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, etc. You'll find yourself living a healthy lifestyle and enjoying it one day at a time.

I used to hate waking up early. The alarm would go off and I’d roll over and hit snooze repeatedly until I eventually opened one eye to look at the time and then bolted out of bed in a frenzy because my endless snoozing was now going to make me late.

I’d rush to get ready and then run out the door in a mad dash to catch the subway to work, not having any time to collect myself or even drink a cup of coffee.

Sound familiar?  It was the worst.

Once I had kids, the cries of a hungry infant on the baby monitor or the bouncing of a happy toddler on my bed would wake me from slumber and I’d go right into “mom mode”.

I was not a happy camper in the morning.  Even as I settled into motherhood and resigned myself to waking on my child’s schedule, I was convinced I would never be a morning person.

However, as the years went by, I noticed that when I did happen to wake up before the rest of my household, and had a few minutes of calm before I had to jump into my day, I quite enjoyed the peaceful quiet of the morning.

I started to think that maybe there was something to this “morning routine” thing that so many people talked about.

So awhile back in my personal development journey, I decided to give it a try.  I made it a point to give myself dedicated time each morning to do things that brought me peace and calm before taking on any of the day’s tasks or activities.

It started out simple.

I’d drink my coffee outside in my favorite porch swing when the weather was nice, or inside in my specially chosen spot on the living room couch.  This would be followed by some type of movement, either a workout or walk outside.  Then I’d listen to one of my favorite podcasts on motivation and personal growth.

drinking coffee in my favorite spot during my morning routine

After a while of doing this, I realized that morning was now my favorite time of the day!  I actually LOVED my mornings and I looked forward to them.  If you would’ve told me this would be the case ten years ago, I would have laughed in your face.

It may not have been intentional at first, but I’ve managed to establish a morning routine that makes me love waking up!

A few weeks ago, I was feeling like I needed more space within my days so that I could be more calm and present.  I decided to wake up one hour earlier to give myself more of this morning time that I had come to cherish.  This change has been extremely beneficial and has become key in how I practice self-care.

How a morning routine can be used for self-care

Mornings have become my sacred time.  I will go as far as to say, this is my time for deep soul connection.

In the quiet hours of the morning, it is much easier to find solitude. This time set aside in solitude will help you center yourself and discover what may be lacking in your current life and what you need to nourish your soul.

Doing some self-reflection in order to determine what you need is the first step in practicing self-care and having this time in the morning is the perfect opportunity to do this.

Journaling is great for self-reflection and can be done by using a pre-printed journal that gives you prompts each day or the old-fashioned way of “writing in your diary” by using a blank notebook. I do like the prompts, as I sometimes need a little guidance to get started, and a beautiful cover is inspiring as well.

Try journaling in order to set your intentions for the day ahead, as well as for longer term goals.  Also, journaling is a great way to express gratitude and remind yourself of all the blessings in your life. Studies have shown that regularly expressing gratitude contributes to your overall happiness and sense of well-being, among other positive benefits.

Meditation is another way to connect with your soul & practice self-care during your morning routine.  I am not consistent with a meditation practice in the traditional sense, but early morning exercise provides a time for me to zone out.  I find that it quiets my mind as I try to focus solely on my breathing and body movements.  At this early hour of the morning, I find that exercise is indeed meditative for me.

You may choose to meditate the more traditional way by sitting still in a quiet space,  focusing on your breath and bringing your mind back to your breath when it wanders.  Of course there are also plenty of apps you can download for guided meditations, affirmations, or meditative music.

The point is to find what feels right for you and incorporate it into your morning routine.

So how do you create a morning routine that works for you?

1.) Listen to your intuition

The first step in creating your morning routine is to listen to your intuition as to what you need at this particular time in your life.

This will look different for everyone depending on your lifestyle and season of life and it may change over time as you transition through different phases.

You may find that you’re waking up feeling very anxious every day and feel like you need more peace in the morning.  Therefore, you may find it helpful to journal about this anxiety and/or create a priority list of tasks for the day with “must do” and “can wait” items.

On the contrary, maybe you wake up feeling like you need more energy, so exercising to an upbeat playlist that will get you pumped for your day is what may work for you.

Know that what you need in your routine can change depending on what you are going through in your current life situation and also what your lifestyle is.

2.) Choose your sacred space

The next important step is to choose a space that feels right to you. You should choose a space where you feel comfortable and able to give yourself what you need.

For me, sunlight and fresh air are important.  Therefore, I usually sit on my front porch when the weather allows or if not, I sit in my living room, in the same specially chosen spot on the sofa where the sunshine beams in through a large bay window.

You may prefer a dimly lit room where you can light some candles.  Or you might even choose to start your morning routine by leaving your house, especially if you have to be home most of the day for work or other reasons and it’s important to you to get out of the house in the morning.

Wherever you choose, just make sure it is a space where you can connect with yourself. A space where you have the things that bring you joy and comfort, like cozy blankets, music, books, or fresh air.

3.) Wake up earlier than everyone else in your household

You should strive to wake up earlier than the rest of your household so that you are undisturbed during this sacred morning time.

This is time for you and you alone, without distraction from others who likely need or want something from you.

Figure out what you want from this time and how much time is necessary to allot for it.  Then make sure you factor in additional time that will allow you to transition from your “me time” to your “mom time” or “work time”.

I’ll share a little secret with you that works for me.   I cheat a little and break up my morning routine into parts.

During the week, I wake up an hour and a half earlier than my kids and I start my first “part” with exercise and then coffee in my favorite spot.   This allows me some time to clear my head and let my body wake up before I need to make myself available to anyone else.

After I get the kids ready and off to school, then I continue with the second part of my morning routine, which includes a walk outside, journaling, and listening to a podcast or reading.

This works for me in this season of life because I am home during the day (and I know that waking up any earlier to do ALL of this before the kids get up is just not realistic for me).  If you are someone who likes to rise at 5am, then your schedule may look different.

Basically, figure out what works for you in terms of timing and what is sustainable and go with that!

4.) Do not look at your screens

I cannot emphasize this step enough.  When you pick up your phone to check your email or social media to start your day, you are getting pulled further away from yourself and the purpose of establishing a morning routine.

Information on social media, emails, and requests from other people distract you from what you need and turn your focus onto what everyone else needs.

The point of the morning routine is to give you what you need so that you are refreshed and prepared to take on the rest of your day with intention, calm, and clarity.  When you start your day by looking at your screens, you are immediately distracted by what matters to everyone else in your space, not what matters to you.

You have the rest of the day to digitally connect with others, so don’t let screens distract you from connecting with yourself first thing.

So do you feel ready to establish a morning routine will make you love waking up?

Even if you were convinced you would never be a “morning person”?

Seriously though, I am on a mission to live life as the best version of myself. I know that waking up early and creating a morning routine that includes meaningful things like self-reflection, soul connection, exercise, and goal setting is the key to my own personal growth.

These things are so important, but unfortunately they probably don’t feel as urgent as your work emails or grocery shopping during the rest of your day and hey, life happens and things have a tendency to go off-course during the day.

So do the things that matter first thing.

If you save these things for “later” or for the end of the day when you are exhausted and can’t focus, then they’ll always be on the back burner.

Your personal development and self-care should not be an afterthought that you may or may not have time for depending on how your day goes.

And let me be real, full transparency here. What I am describing for my morning routine is my ideal morning. This is how I strive to start my day because I see the benefit in it, but there are some mornings when I just want to sleep a little longer and so I do.

I don’t beat myself up about this either because at the end of the day, it is all about giving yourself what you need. If you need to sleep in a couple of days a week, then do that and practice your morning routine the rest of the time.

Decide what works for you and establish your own ideal morning routine. I promise you will see transformation in your life and will start loving your mornings like I do!

I think that what you wear and how you wear it is an important factor of someone’s personality. It’s the outing of yourself, an expression as we say. My opinion is that everyone should be a to wear what they want, no matter what.

The right style equals the right mindset. People who aren’t insecure or doubting what they should wear are happier and often have a more positive way of handeling things in life.

“The clothes make the man” they say, ofcourse this is also accountable for women. By wearing the clothes and accessories of your choice you will feel empowered, happier and more confident!

I am a fashionblogger on Instagram and I think that you need to embrace your shape and figure to grow and love yourself even more! Self love is important and you can express yourself with the clothes you wear.

We think with our brains but also with our bodies, some days are more difficult to get up and dress up but if I am wearing an outfit I love, I feel like I can handle everything even the bad things. Most of the people do judge a book by it’s cover but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a lazy day and wear sweatpants all day!!

As I said, it does not matter what people think about your own style if you feel good in the clothes you wear, than you should be proud of yourself!

Below you can find out her favourite audible books, the ones that have changed her life:

Learning to love Audible

During the first months of maternity leave, I discovered I simply couldn’t concentrate enough to take in a book – whether audio format or not.

Perhaps partly because my first download choice was pretty ambitious: the critically acclaimed Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. I am told that this is a whole 42 hours of Audible awesome. However, I confess that three years later, I have yet to make it passed the first 42 minutes. For some reason, I rarely listen to fiction. Which is a shame as I find the idea of the likes of Stephen Fry and Meryl Streep reading stories to me incredibly appealing. But, no… maybe one day… so, in the meantime I was going to need a new approach to make audiobooks work for me!

It took a little trial and error, but eventually I cracked it.

When my daughter was nine months old, we decamped to my French house for a few weeks so I could do some renovating, painting and decorating -whilst my parents watched little Ella. With many long hours of painting, alone, ahead of me – I dug out my Audible subscription in search of some company.

When in a book shop, I generally gravitate to the non fiction, self development section. And so, I searched Audible‘s virtual shelves and as I was vaguely starting to think about returning to work after Maternity Leave, downloaded a book called Playing Big – from an author I had never heard of before: Tara Mohr. Time to get my head back vaguely into the right mindset for returning to the office…

1. Playing Big by Tara Mohr

Frankly, discovering Playing Big was one of the pivotal moments in my career – and life. I vividly remember painting my bedroom ceiling – taking in all that Tara Mohr had to say. I felt called out – time and time again – for behaviours that were keeping me small, tactical, invisible at work.

Tara’s work is an extraordinary combination of philosophy on getting the most out of life – and practical advice for taking control.

I felt truly inspired; motivated every day as I listened to expect more, achieve more. I didn’t know what was out there for me when I went back to work – but this book made me see that I was not yet achieving my potential. Additionally her Inner Mentor chapter has had a profound impact on me. This book has genuinely changed my path and my life.

It was also a gateway to a new world: it taught me how well I respond to this genre of book – particularly in audio form. I find all of the writers I mention here to be so encouraging, relatable and inspiring. It is quickly like chatting to a friend. Now I am back at work I listen to Audible on my commute most days, so I get through a new book every couple of weeks. I have an easy source of motivation any time I need a boost.

2. Year of Yes by Shona Rhimes

After finishing Playing Big, I was looking for another big hitter as I took my painting in the hallway. Now – one thing I decided to do during my first maternity leave was binge watch Grey’s Anatomy which is produced by Shona Rhimes. I had repeatedly heard how good it was from friends’ comments on my facebook feed over the years and decided this would be a good use of my time, living vicariously through this awesome series, as I sat breastfeeding on the couch for months on end. I got through all ten series – which at the time felt like a huge achievement! However, I note now that having been so inspired by all these great writers, it was the last show I ever binge watched. With two children, you need that time for other things!

So, I chose to listen to Year of Yes because I was quite obsessed with Grey’s at the time – but also because I love the premise of saying yes to every opportunity and pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. Shona is a naturally introverted, quiet character who hated public speaking – but by refusing to turn down any opportunity has achieved even greater things. Great read for someone who knows Grey’s – but also a lot in here for someone who doesn’t know her TV shows (my mother enjoyed it having never heard of Meredith or Derek!)

3. How to own the room by Viv Groskop

Book three is more specific. Fact is, I used to be terrified of public speaking. And by terrified, I mean paralysing fear: frozen to the spot, red face, trembling hands, stammering… the works.

I would put a lot of energy into avoid “opportunities” to speak! But then I had to face facts that this was seriously going to hold me back at work, especially if I ever wanted to get promoted!

So I joined Toastmasters – and for the next year forced myself to speak in public on a regular basis. If fear of public speaking is a blocker for you, I really recommend seeking out your local Toastmasters chapter. Everyone you meet there signed up in the first place for the same reason – and so they are very supportive!

Anyway, having worked through the paralysing terror stage – I have moved on to the next challenge: being good at public speaking! This is where How to own the Room comes in.

I really like Viv’s engaging narration style – and as this is written specifically for women, designed to take you from terror to TED style speaking. If this is an area you are interested in (or actively avoiding!) – I highly recommend this.

4. She means business by Carrie Green

I had not heard of Carrie until I was searching for a new book and noticed that She means business has (at time of writing) 1,283 five star reviews on Amazon. Such a huge vote of confidence piqued my curiosity… and – I decided to give it a listen. Very glad I did. Her story is fantastically inspiring, her advice both relatable and practical – and her style very engaging.

It opened my eyes to thinking of things with an entrepreneurial outlook; something I had not really done previously. Her viewpoint gave me the ability to think differently about my own skills and how I could market them – or anything else, for that matter.

If you have any spark of a side hustle or business dream inside of you – I really recommend this book. And if you don’t – I bet her advice will trigger that curiosity to one…

5. The 5 second rule by Mel Robbins

If you don’t already know her – let me start by telling you that Mel Robbins is a force of nature. She has an unforgettable, powerful voice – and listening to her narrate certainly wakes you up, in more ways than one.

As you might guess, her 5 Second Rule is pretty simple to grasp – but, if you think you are going to have got the best content in the first chapter or so, think again.

My mother listened to this book and told me that although she was expecting it to be the same idea, thinly spun out of hours – but was so wrong. Totally engaged throughout with new ideas.

I have now listened to all of Mel’s Audible recording and her style packs a punch throughout – but this is my favourite.

6. Daring Greatly – How the Courage to be Vulnerable Transforms the Way we Live, Love, Parent and Lead – by Brené Brown

I first became aware of Brené Brown through a good friend who loves her work so much that when she had the opportunity to meet her in person, she was so star struck she couldn’t speak! If she could have that impact on people, clearly this was a writer to investigate…

And so, I listened to my first Brené audiobook, Daring Greatly, in 2018 whilst on a twelve hour road trip: just my six month old baby, my two year old toddler and me. I had recently had to apply – out of the blue – to get divorced and the reality is, I had not been expecting to do that journey, in foreign country, on the wrong side of the road, alone with the children.

It is safe to say that Brené kept me sane that day – for which I am eternally grateful – and I have thought of her as a friend ever since. Her stunning research into vulnerability and shame is fascinating and life changing.

If you aren’t aware of her work – I suggest you look into it. You won’t be sorry! I have listened to pretty much everything she has done and could have added any of her books to this list – but, if you are new to Brené, Daring Greatly is a great place to start.

And if ever I am going on a long car journey with the girls, it is always a comfort to have some Brené teed up to listen to on the way.

Six of many contenders!

It was difficult to create my Top 6 “reads”.  There are so many other books which were contenders for this list! For me, now, I listen to Audio books a lot. I use them to multitask if I am doing chores such as cooking or cleaning, getting a train – or on long drives. Indeed for the latter, I fill up my tea flask, put on a good book and suddenly that drive is almost like having an hour or two to myself in a coffee shop with a good book! Almost…

My Audible subscription is the one treat that I get excited about whenever my monthly voucher lands and I have a virtual stack of books by my bed! I feel that adds such great value to my self development. It keeps me inspired! And the great thing is, if you start a book and it isn’t for you, you can do an exchange for another at the touch of button. There are too many good books out there to waste time with ones which aren’t improving your life!
